Comunidad Rimanakuy invites you to celebrate Inti Raymi (The Festival of the Sun) in the International Year of Indigenous Languages!
Comunidad Rimanakuy is a Quechua-speaking community group that aims to promote, support and protect the Andean cultures and Latin American indigenous languages in London.
Funded by OWRI’s Cross Language Dynamics: Reshaping Community project from the Institute of Modern Languages Research, and supported by the Institute of Latin American Studies, the Consulate General of Peru and Teléfono de la Esperanza- VOADES, the community event will be an opportunity for local people to learn more about Andean cultures and languages.
The event aims to highlight the importance of indigenous languages not only as “methods of communication but also as repositories of traditional knowledge that are important for understanding and sustaining biological diversity and providing important contributions to sustainable development” (UN).
Come and learn some Quechua, taste a homemade selection of Andean bocaditos and enjoy traditional music and dances by Grupo Kausary and much more!
